Bertram Lee Rayburn, Jr., 62, of Laurel, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017.
He was born December 21, 1954, in Lewis County, Kentucky, the eldest of six children of Bertram "Toots" and Edna Lewis Rayburn.
He came to Indiana with his family in 1963, and they moved to Laurel in 1969.
Bertram attended Laurel Schools, and he had been employed at Rayburn's Sawmill. He also worked in the logging industry for many years. Most recently he was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.
On June 8, 1990, Bertram married the former Julia White. Mrs. Rayburn survives.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife of 27 years, Julia Rayburn, survivors include his parents of Laurel; ten children, LaVonne (Troy) North, Annette White, Lydia (Gerald) Thomas, Bert Lee (Tanya) Rayburn, Nicole (Jackie) Johnson, John (Crystal) Rayburn, Matt (Kelly) Rayburn, Tamela Rayburn, Sandra (Jay) Hundley, and Raesha White; twenty-two grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Harold) Spurlock and Nikki Rayburn; three brothers, James Rayburn, Joe Rayburn and David Rayburn; an aunt, Lettie Riley; several nieces and nephews.
Rayburn was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Joe Strong at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Lakeview Pentecostal Church, 25049 Old US Highway 52, Laurel, Indiana, where friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery.
