The only child of Clyde and Alma Gnahn Woods, Betty was born in Connersville on October 6, 1924.

Betty married Frederick Showalter in August 1948 at Eastside Methodist Church in Connersville.  Mr. Showalter passed away in 1988.  For several years, Betty worked as a clerk at Woolworths in Connersville but spent most of her time as a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, Linda K. (Thomas) Hendrix of Connersville, Roger D. Showalter of Greensburg, Indiana, and Valerie J. Showalter of Connersville; five grandchildren, Brad Hendrix, Justin Hendrix, Natalie Spicer, Amanda Lancaster, James Showalter; and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband of 40 years, Frederick Showalter, Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
