Bobby Lee Copeland, 89, of Connersville passed away Saturday morning, November 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home.
One of fourteen children of Virgil Loren and Goldie Dean Copeland, Bobby was born on September 11, 1928, in Sullivan County, Indiana and graduated with the class of 1946 from Hymera High School.
On February 23, 1953, Bobby married the former Janice Carlin in Connersville. Mrs. Copeland passed away on October 31, 1995.
For many years, Bobby worked in coal mines in Sullivan County. Later, he was employed by Hoosier Construction Company where he helped install the main power line from Lawrenceburg to Aurora. In 1948, he moved to Connersville where he worked for Rex Manufacturing and successor, Ford Electronics and Refrigeration from until his retirement in 1985.
Bobby was a member of the IUE Local 919 and the Fayette County Senior Center. In his leisure time, Bobby enjoyed fishing, reading, watching NASCAR, and daily visits to Maggie’s Diner.
Survivors include three children, Yvonne S. (Glendon) Smith of Connersville, Pamela J. (Rodger) Tomlin of Centerville, and Christopher D. Copeland (fiancé, Danyelle Boggs) of Connersville; six grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Jennifer Hart, Nicole Boone, Terry Boone, Logan (Dakota) Daley, Kenny (Angie) Copeland; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Orr of Rogersville, Tennessee; and a brother, Virgil L. Copeland, Jr. of Vevay, Indiana.
Besides his wife of 42 years, Janice Copeland, Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Copeland; sisters, Marie Self, Viola Riggins, Gladys Johnston, Betty DeBoard, Mary Betz and Frances Coleman; brothers, George Copeland, Leonard Copeland, Frank Copeland, Jerry Copeland and James Copeland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Flannigan, Jr. of First Southern Baptist Church, Falmouth, Indiana will officiate. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the funeral home.
