Donald E. Rowe, 83, of rural Connersville, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his home.
One of ten children of Herbert, Sr. and Virginia Collins Rowe, Donald was born on November 21, 1933 in Fayette County, Indiana.
On August 13, 2003, Donald married the former Betty Tanksley in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Mrs. Rowe survives.
Donald was employed in the maintenance department at Detroit Steel, retiring after fifteen years of service. He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls and was a member of the Whitewater Valley Garden Tractor Pullers. Always willing to lend a hand, Donald was known for his ability to repair anything.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Rowe; children, Rick (Patricia) Rowe, Penny (Nolan, Sr.) Grimes, Donna Bentley, Candy Harlan, Jerry Rowe, all of Connersville; step-children, Sue Barnes of Connersville and Dean Tanksley of Florida; siblings, Mary (Tom) Hudson, Shep (Karen) Rowe, Herb Rowe, Jr., Bill (Roberta) Rowe, John (Donna) Rowe, Tom (Carolyn) Rowe, Phyllis Helkema, all of Connersville, Steve (Donna) Rowe of Cambridge City; grandchildren, Tesha (Jon) Starnes, Ricky Jr. (Melissa) Rowe, Wendy Floyd, Bobbie Jo (Aaron) Rissleman, Nolan Grimes, Jr., Brandon Smith, Derrick and Nathan Gaddis, Zach Harlan, Dustin Rowe, Nicholas Rowe, E.J. (Kacy) Stelle, Danny Rader, Travis Rader, Douglass Rader, Donnie Rowe, Miranda Hahn, Dakota Rowe, Justin (Carrie) Leising; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 49 years, Shirley Rowe in 2002; children, Barbara Rader in 2003, Dennis Rowe in 2012, Diane Burch in 2013, an infant son, Bobby Joe Rowe in 1971; step-children, Marilyn Payton in 2015 and Deborah Pearson in 2007; a grandson, B.J. Gaddis; infant sister, Barbara Jean Rowe; son-in-laws, William Bentley and Eldon “Butch” Gaddis III; sister-in-law, Sue Rowe; brother-in-law, Ted Helkema.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Donald’s grandson, Ricky Rowe, Jr. will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery.
