Else (Pockelwaldts) JobeMay 26, 1921 ~ September 21, 2017 (age 96)
Else Jobe, 96, of Connersville went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday morning, September 21, 2017, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home where she had been a resident since December 2013.
She was born May 26, 1921, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Richard and Erna Pockelwaldt and graduated from high school in Berlin in 1937. She came to Connersville in 1948 and was employed at Stant Manufacturing, retiring after 28 years of service.
Else enjoyed fishing, watching I.U. basketball and being with her family. Her belief and dedication to the Lord came first in her life. She served on many committees at St. Paul’s and then Peace Lutheran Church. She taught children Sunday School for many years. She served on Altar Care, took meals to those in need, visited the sick, and did whatever else was asked of her. She was most famous for her delicious coffee cakes. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, scarves and especially her little washcloths. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored her. This was especially obvious on Christmas Eve when at the end of the service we sang Silent Night. Else would sing it in German. The grandchildren would scamper to stand next to her to hear her sing in German. She will be missed so very much.
Survivors include four children, Claudia (Pehry) Holmlund, Johnny (Debbie) Jobe, Jerry (Becky) Jobe, all of Connersville and Jacky (Judy) Jobe of Auburn, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Pehry A. (Michelle) Holmlund, Carolyn (Matt) Martin, Stacy (Tom) Jergensen, Jason (Jamie) Jobe, Megan Sparks, Jaime (Chris) Smith, Sarah (Matt) McGregor and Jeff Jobe; eighteen great-grandchildren, Victoria Keasling, Jamison Holmlund, Zachary Martin, Jacob Martin, Braydon Martin, Seth Martin, Jeremy Jergensen, Eli Jergensen, Jared Jobe, Maddyson Sparks, Bentley Sparks, Matthew Smith, Montana Smith, Emily McGregor, Molly McGregor, Julia McGregor, Alex Jobe and Keegan Jobe; several nieces and nephews. She is blessed with a life-long friend, Ann Ekstrom.
Else is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Erika Marasti; a son-in-law, Benito Marasti, and a brother, Heinz Pockelwaldt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Norman Dew and Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.
