Gary Owens, 74, of Connersville passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Fayette Regional Health System.
One of three children of Floyd Leo and Ruby L. Owens, Gary was born on December 4, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman Recruit.
For many years, Gary worked as an over the road truck driver before retiring in 1996. On October 10, 1994, he married the former Gail McElrath in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Owens survives.
Gary was a member of Higher Praise Worship Center and in his leisure time, enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, euchre, and family get-togethers.
Besides his wife of over 22 years, Gail Owens, survivors include his children, Ray (Heather) Owens of Nixa, Missouri, Sindy Schulz of Columbus, Indiana, Daniel (Jody) Owens of Morgantown, Indiana, Melissa (Joe) Krepp of Connersville, Jason (Misty) Owens of Martinsville, Indiana, Meghan Hall of Franklin, Indiana; grandchildren, Nathan (Jade) Owens, Erika (Cori) Rubadue, Kelly (Brandon) Stam, Kari (Daniel) Gunter, Chad (Susie) Owens, Morgan Philpot, Malcom Krepp, David Krepp, Bailley Owens, Noah Timmons, Hunter Owens, Mackenzi Moldon, Anastasia Hall, Madison Moldon, Abbigayle Hall, Isaiah Hall, Mason Owens, Marissa Owens, Jace Russell; great-grandchildren, Braydon and Emmitt Rubadue, Skylar and Lyla Owens, Xander Stam, Hayden Owens, J.D. Krepp, Daniel Krepp, Lizabeth Krepp; sisters, Debra Dicks of Indianapolis, Linda (Dean) Schnellinger of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Daniel) Jones of Greensburg, Indiana, brother-in-law, Ralph (Mary) Olita of Aurora, Ohio.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gayle Behe; a son, Tony Cornett; a brother-in-law, Mike Dicks.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Military Honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council at 1:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Richard Ware will officiate. Cremation will follow.
