James H. Field, aged 90, passed from this world to walk with the lord on February 12, 2017.
Jim was born February 11, 1927 in Coalmont, Indiana, the ninth of Velora and Henry Field’’s eleven children. He, all of his five brothers and a sister were members of the U.S. Military. His elder brother, Robert, was killed in France during WWII. Serving in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army, Jim was a member of the U.S. Occupational Forces at the end of the war with Japan.
Jim married Sheryll Shields in 1955 at Hymra, Indiana. They lived in Connersville their entire married life, raising four children there. Jim retired from Ford in 1988 after 40 years of service.
Jim was a sportsman and avid hunter. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms and fishing with his family and friends. His greatest joy was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters were the center of his life.
Mr. Field is survived by his wife, Sheryll L. Field of Connersville, Indiana; sons, James D. (Delilah) Field and Robert Field of Connersville; daughter, Rebecca (Randy) Guire of Connersville; daughter, Cynthia (Ed) Bowen of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; brother, Roy Field of Coalmont, Indiana; Grandchildren, Charles, Emily, Benjamin, and Samuel Field and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Friendly Grove Baptist Church, 10520 S County Road 550 West, Lewis, Indiana 47858. Pastor David Smith will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Sanders Cemetery, Lewis, Indiana. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, Connersville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
