James Alden RoseAugust 1, 1916 ~ July 15, 2017 (age 100)
Alden Rose, 100, of Connersville, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 15, 2017, at his home.
He was born August 1, 1916, in Newtonville, Ohio, one of nine children of Clyde and Amy Barbour Rose. He moved to Fayette County with his family and was a 1934 graduate of Everton High School.
On November 30, 1940, he was married to Caroline Keene, of Connersville and for many years, they farmed in the Everton area. Mrs. Rose passed away on December 1, 2015, at the age of 100, after celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary on November 30, 2015.
Along with his family, he attended the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the F & AM Fairfield Lodge #98. Alden served his community as a member of the Fayette County Council, the Board of Directors of the Bentonville State Bank, and the Fayette-Union County REMC board.
Survivors include four children, Donna (Jim) Fleming, Columbus, IN, James (Rickie) Rose, of Connersville, Marilyn (Harold) Strangeman, of Edwardsville, IL and Ronald (Kathleen) Rose, of Connersville; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willis (Nan) Rose, of Connersville and Gerald (Margaret) Rose, of Silver Springs, MD; a sister, Martha Clift, of Albuquerque, NM; Alden is blessed with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, A grandson, Jason Rose; a sister, Barbara Murray, four brothers, Ennis Rose, William Rose, Edwin Rose and an infant brother.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Kara Bussabarger will officiate. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
