L. Paul Stine, Jr., 86, of Connersville and Fripp Island, South Carolina, a loving husband and father, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at his home.

The only son of L. Paul, Sr. and Dorothy Laighton Stine, Paul was born on July 13, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Paul graduated high school in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania and received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1953.  While attending Penn State, Paul was a member of the Triangle Fraternity, editor of the Engineering School newspaper, and participated in several honorary organizations.

Paul married the former Barbara Ann Newquist on January 30, 1954, in State College, Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Stine survives.

Paul began his career in engineering with DuPont Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware and transferred to the Savannah River Plant in Augusta, Georgia.  He moved to Olean, New York, working for Clark Brothers followed by Trane Corporation in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  In 1963, Paul relocated to Connersville where he was employed at Relcon, Inc. as Sales Manager.  He retired as Vice President and co-owner of the company in 2002.

A train enthusiast, Paul enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and studying train history.  He also studied Civil War history, collected stamps and historical maps.  Paul enjoyed spending time with Barbara and his family at Fripp Island, South Carolina.  Paul was a member of the Civil War Roundtable and enjoyed historic Connersville.  With his family, Paul was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for many years.  Recently, he became a member of the First United Methodist Church. 

Besides his wife of over 63 years, Barbara Ann Stine, survivors include his children, Thomas P. Stine of Richmond, Indiana, Susan M. (David) Eltringham of Loveland, Ohio, Sally Fischer of Columbus, Ohio and Bob (Jane) Stine of Connersville; six grandchildren, Kate (Corey) Lemke, Brett Esselstein, Matt Eltringham, Anna Eltringham, Andrew Stine and Emily Stine.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 729 N Central Avenue, Connersville, Indiana.  Pastor Frank Oakman will officiate.  Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
