Melvada Rae (Moffett) JacksonFebruary 12, 1947 ~ June 30, 2017 (age 70)
Melvada Rae Jackson, 70, formerly of Falmouth passed away early Friday morning, June 30, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
One of five children of Raymond O. and Nilah Evelyn Johnson Moffett, Melvada was born on February 12, 1947 in Connersville. She graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1965 and attended business college.
On April 8, 1966, Melvada married Wayne T. Jackson at Fairview Christian Church. Mr. Jackson survives.
Together they farmed for 46 years in the Fairview-Falmouth area before moving to the Greenfield area for retirement. Melvada was a member of New Heights Christian Church and formerly a member of Posey Extension Homemakers. Melvada was employed for over 20 years with the US Postal Service, most of which were as Postmaster of the Falmouth Post Office. In her leisure time, she enjoyed quilting, antiquing, playing card games and board games, volunteering at church, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Besides her husband of over 51 years, Wayne Jackson, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Storm and her husband, Harrison, and Deborah Mundy and her husband, Matthew, all of Fishers, Indiana; two grandsons, Jackson Matthew Mundy and Carter William Mundy; a sister, Kathy Jean Smith and her husband, Robert of Buffalo, Wyoming; a brother, David Carl Moffett and his wife, Laura of Connersville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Melvada is preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters, Judith Ann and Theresa Kay Moffett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at New Heights Christian Church, 2752 IN-44, Connersville, Indiana 47331. Pastors Ryan Phelps and Paul Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the church. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
