Stephen Joseph Holmes, 76, of Connersville, passed away Friday evening, January 12, 2018, at Reid Health in Richmond.

He was born August 26, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Joseph J. Holmes and Bessie May Besslar Holmes.  Steve was a graduate of the New Mexico Military Institute in 1962 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Southern California in 1965.

For many years, he was employed as a Computer Software Specialist, working for Borax Industries, Phillips Petroleum, and Twenty-First Century Insurance, retiring in 1998.

On June 20, 2007, he was married to Elizabeth Handley, of Connersville by Reverend Bill Helms at First United Methodist Church.  They made their home in Connersville since that time; Mrs. Holmes survives.

Steve was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee.  He was also a dedicated member of the Connersville Kiwanis Club where he was currently serving as the club’s secretary, Fayette County Historic Society, Whitewater Valley Arts Association, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Eiteljorg Museum, and Gene Autry Museum.  In his leisure, he enjoyed traveling and cheering on the USC Trojans.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Holmes, of Connersville.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Frank Oakman will officiate.  Burial in Dale Cemetery will follow the service. Family and friends may call on Saturday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Connersville Kiwanis Club.
