Robert Lee Miller
Robert Lee Miller, 82, of Fayette County in Springersville, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois, of an apparent heart attack.
The oldest of five children, he was born March 10, 1931 in Franklin County, Indiana, the son of George and Irene Kramer Miller, and, as a teenager, he moved with his family to Connersville where he graduated in 1949 from Connersville High School.
On March 26, 1950, he was married, in the Wamsley family home, to Marilynn Wamsley of Connersville. For more than ten years, he ran a dairy farm on the Stoops Farm, later working for several co-ops, before purchasing the Bentonville Farm Supply.
A member of the East Side United Methodist Church, following his retirement, he pursued his passion for golf, where he was a member of the Liberty Country Club in Union Co., Indiana and Glades Country Club in Naples, Florida (he had four hole-in-ones and celebrated a double eagle), was an avid Connersville Spartan and Purdue Boilermaker fan – he spent his later years with his family, mushroom hunting and laboring on woodworking projects.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Marilynn Miller, five children, Cheryl Stern and her husband Mark of Springfield, Illinois, Steve Miller of Connersville, George Miller and his wife Jan of Bentonville, Indiana, Larry Miller and his wife Beth Ann of Springersville, Indiana and Dan Miller and his wife Gina of Perdido Key, Florida, nine grandchildren, Kent Miller, Nate Miller, Gabe Stern, Josh Stern, Cory Miller, Sara Munchel, Joani Sullivan, Olivia Miller and Reanna Miller, fifteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marlene Moore of Connersville and Geraldine Martin and her husband Robert of Connersville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Miller, his mother, Irene Miller Chilton, an infant brother, Kenneth Miller, a great-grandson, Cortland Scott Miller, and a sister, Alma Dunn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Greene, officiating; cremation will follow – visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday; family and friends may visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com
