Charles E. Throop, 58, of Connersville passed away Monday evening, October 26, 2009 at Heritage House where he had been a patient since last Tuesday. He had been in failing health for the past 4 years.
He was born February 22, 1951 in Connersville, one of six children of David E. and Pauline Ross Throop. A lifelong resident of Connersville, he was a graduate of Connersville High School and a veteran of the U. S. Navy where he served on the USS George Washington during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he came back to Connersville for residence.
On May 21, 1973, he was married in Connersville to Kathaleen Adams. Mrs. Throop survives.
For over 28 years, he was employed as a operator and truck driver by B & O Railroad and it's successor CSX Railroad, and in 2005 he took a medical leave and retired due to his health.
During his leisure he enjoyed bowling, woodworking, fishing and reading.
Survivors besides his wife, Kathaleen Throop, include: two children: Tammy L. Taylor of Dublin, Indiana and Charles J. Throop and wife, Barb, of Connersville; five grandchildren: Robert Lee McGillem, Anthony Joe Taylor, David Joe Taylor, Shelby Lanee Throop and Garrett H. Throop; three brothers: Danny Throop, Robert Throop and David Throop, all of Connersville; one sister, Paula Roszell of Brownsville, Indiana; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Floyd and Vanette Throop; and a sister, Joann Throop.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Bill Lowry, Pastor of the Harrisburg Union Church at 2 PM Friday, October 30, 2009 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 12 Noon until the time of services. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Fayette County Veteran's Council Honor Guard.
