Eleanor W. Sturwold, 93, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, April 22, 2010 at the Caroleton Manor.
She was born August 23, 1916 in Rosthern Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Anderson Wilker.
A graduate of Rosthern High School in Canada, she came to Connersville in the late 1930's to attend college while she resided with her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Robert Wilker. She graduated from Miami Jacob's Business College in Dayton, Ohio.
On February 12, 1943, she was married in Connersville to William C. Sturwold. Together they raised two children, Carol and Robert. Mr. Sturwold passed away June 23, 2004.
She was formerly employed with the Laurel Biscuit Company in Dayton, Ohio, the Fayette County Farm Bureau, the Fayette Lumber Company and the Central State Bank, from which she had retired after 25 years of dedicated service.
Eleanor was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and had served on the Altar Guild for several years. In recent years she had been attending the Higher Praise Worship Center. She loved her God and family and was an inspiration to others.
She had been a former member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the Happy Homemakers Extension Club. During her leisure she enjoyed cooking and needlework.
Survivors include her daughter and husband, Carol and Harold Fox of Connersville; her son and wife, C. Robert and Lauri Sturwold of Clinton, Connecticut; five grandchildren: Heather Fox of Indianapolis, David Fox and Tina Fox, both of Connersville, Ben Sturwold and Justin Sturwold, both of Connecticut; three great-grandchildren: John Fox and Amy Fox, both of Connersville and William Sturwold of Connecticut; one great-great grandchild, Riley Ann Fox; a sister, Viola Kunkle of Ashtabula, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, William C. Sturwold, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Funk and Luella Winkenweder; and one brother, Stanley Wilker.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Richard Ware at 11 AM Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 AM until the time of services on Tuesday.
