Rosalie K. Powers, 70, of Connersville, passed away Friday morning, December 11, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born September 18, 1939 in Connersville, one of four children of Benedict M. and Catherine Walch Brunsman. A life-long resident of Connersville, she was a 1957 graduate of Connersville High School. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Hamilton, Ohio graduating in August of 1960. Since that time, she had been employed as a Registered Nurse with Fayette Memorial Hospital.
On June 18, 1960, she was married here to Robert L. Powers. Mr. Powers survives.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, had served as a eucharistic minister and also on the bereavement committee. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed travel, cooking, going to movies and spending time with her family and numerous special friends.
Rosie’s caring spirit will carry on through the lives of those she helped by unselfishly being an organ donor.
Survivors besides her husband include two daughters: Elizabeth Ann Hisle and husband, Jimmy, and Karen Sue Kalkhoff and husband, Robert, all of Connersville; three grandchildren, Andrew Savoy, Nathan Kalkhoff and Sarakathryn Rose Kalkhoff; two brothers, Benedict J. “Benny” Brunsman and wife, Reita, and John B. Brunsman and wife, Claudia, all of Connersville; a sister- in- law, Judy Brunsman, of Milton; a special niece, Jeanine Neal; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Brunsman, and a step grandson, Christopher Savoy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Stanley J. Herber at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in St. Gabriel Church and burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel School.
