Rhoda Moore, 85, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord and her loving husband, Alex, at 4:05 PM Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Richmond, where she had been a resident since 2002.
She was born February 27, 1924 in Moore’s Creek, Kentucky, one of eight children of Bradley and Amanda Boggs Johnson.
On December 26, 1940, she was married in Kentucky to Alex Moore of Tyner, Kentucky and they moved to Indiana shortly thereafter. Mr. Moore died October 19, 2003.
She was a devoted homemaker, wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family. In her leisure she enjoyed gardening.
An active Charter Member of the Connersville Baptist Temple, she had also been a Charter Member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Richard Bradley Moore and wife, Judy, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; two daughters: Dianne Bledsoe and husband, Al, of Richmond and Donna Chandler and husband, Brent, of Connersville; seven grandchildren: Rachelle Moore, Greg Moore and wife, Becca, Tony Bledsoe and wife, Amy, Jenni Brown and husband, Chuck, Jessi Barrett and husband, Johnnie, Jackie Chandler and fiance' John Paul Benitez and Becky Combs and husband, Justin; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sophia Gilbert of Dannville, Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband of 63 years, Alex Moore, she is preceded in death by three sisters: Grace Bowling, Rena Metcalf and Madeline Johnson; three brothers: Ray Johnson, Roy Johnson and Clyde Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 19, 2009 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Collins, of the Connersville Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:30 AM until the time of services at 2 PM on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Alzheimer Research.
