Obituary:
Evelyn Eleanor Niedenthal Thralls, 90, of Connersville, and formerly of Richmond, passed away at 11:40 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Fayette Regional Hospital, after being transported from the Lincoln Centers. She had been a resident at the Lincoln Centers for several years. She was born in Connersville on November 2, 1919, the only child of John Joseph and Kathryn Barbara Schmidt Niedenthal. She attended Saint Gabriel Catholic School through the eight grade and graduated from the Connersville High School in 1932. On February 7, 1942, she was married to H. Clyde Thralls. He owned and operated his own accounting firm, where Evelyn later worked with her husband as a clerk. For more than 30 years, she was self employed as a skilled seamstress. She was a collector of anything related to Cardinals or red birds; loved to sketch, do embroidery, was an avid reader, considering herself to be an “armchair traveler”, and loved dogs. A devoted Catholic, she was a member of the Saint Gabriel Catholic Church. Survivors include: a daughter, Sarah Susan Brandenburg and husband, James, of Connersville; two sons: Phillip Bernard Thralls of Connersville and Evan Kellyn Thralls and wife, Kathy, of Eaton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Besides her former husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; a son, William ‘Bill’ Joseph Thralls; and a grandson, Jeffrey Kyle Brandenburg, who died December 21, 2000. Funeral services will be conducted by Father Robert E. Mazzola at 11 AM Monday, January 4, 2010 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Brookville. Friends may visit from 4-6 PM Sunday, January 3, 2010, where the Rosary will be recited at 6 PM. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Saint Gabriel Catholic School Endowment Fund.
