ALVIN EDWARD DOYLE
Alvin Edward “Bud” Doyle, 86, of Connersville, went to be with his beloved Rene and Our Lord at 9:50 AM on New Year’s Day at Caroleton Manor. Al was born March 22, 1923 in Versailles, Indiana, one of seven children of Albert and Fannie Mae (Craig) Doyle.
On May 11, 1946, he was married at Holy Family Catholic Church to Verena “Rene” Rudolf in Oldenburg. Attending St. Gabriel’s Church since 1947, he volunteered at festivals, bereavement dinners, remodeling and Bingo at the Knights of Columbus. He was an honorary lifetime member and Director of Indiana Wagon Train/Outriders Association.
Employed most recently by Wells Brothers Estates. He has worked at American Kitchens, Colonial Bread Company, National Life Insurance, Ready Machine, Federal Project Safe, Wells Hardware, Street Department, and as handyman/fence builder, he started a lawncare service at age 82.
Hobbies included gardening at his valley ranch which won Beautification awards, raising cattle, cocker spaniels and dalmatians. His favorite time was sharing his horses/wagon rides at parties, festivals, parades, nursing homes, family reunions, around the neighborhood and helping at 4-H Buckaroo Horse Shows.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather taking special pride in the fact that all 7 of his children and 9 (so far) of his grandchildren have earned college degrees. Lately his favorite pastime was sitting with Lee in the front yard discussing what work needed to be done next.
Besides his wife of 62 years, he was preceded in death by parents, and siblings Thelma in 1921, Lawrence, Marie Roberts, and Ruth Shepherd.
Survivors include: Retired Lt. Col. Gary (Carolyn) Doyle, Patty (Bill) Carter, David (Lynn) Doyle, Kathy (Larry) Sturgeon, Beth (Darryll) Morehead, Melissa Collins, and Janet Crawford (Dennis Brashear); one brother Walter (Jean) Doyle and a sister Hazel (Norman) Comer; 16 grandchildren Thad and Rawley Doyle; Natalie Carter and Laura Ray; Chad Doyle; Gina Johnson, Michele Bowling and Janel Sturgeon; Darryllee, Craig, Amber Morehead and Dawn Farley; Amee Rachu and Hannah Mae Creech; Keri and Jared Crawford; 14great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Thursday, January 7, 2010, at St. Gabriel Church with burial in Dale Cemetery with visitation Wednesday 4 to 8 PM at Miller, Moster, Robbins.
