Evelyn Marcum, 83, of Connersville, passed away surrounded by her family Friday morning, January 8, 2010 at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services in Richmond. She had been a patient for two days and had been in failing health since November 2009.
She was born September 11, 1926 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Herbert and Ethel Abner Baker. She moved to Franklin County, Indiana with her family as a child and lived in Franklin County through adulthood, moving to Fayette County in 1967.
She was married on August 23, 1947 in Laurel to Ruford Marcum. Mr. Marcum passed away July 10, 1997.
Evelyn attended the Park Road Christian Center. During her leisure she enjoyed cooking for and caring for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include seven children: Ray Marcum and wife, Shirley, of Indianapolis, Ruford Marcum Jr. and wife, Mary, Dan Marcum and wife, Brenda, Jane Roberts and husband, Bud, Joe Marcum, Delbert Marcum and wife, Sherry, Raymond Marcum and wife, Billie, all of Connersville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clifford Crawley and wife, Carolyn, of Shelbyville, Indiana; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Beside her husband, Ruford Marcum, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter; two sisters: Berl Ritter and Katherine Hamblin and two brothers: Jack Baker and Clinton Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Lester Rose, Pastor of the Park Road Christian Center at 2 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Lyonsville. Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
