Obituary:
Gary Wayne Brown Gary Wayne Brown,65, of Milton, passed away Tuesday morning, January 19, 2010 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 27, 1944 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, one of nine children of Cye and Mary Hibbard Brown. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he received an honorable discharge upon completing his military service during the Vietnam War and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years until his honorable discharge. Returning to Kentucky for residence, he lived there until moving to Milton, Indiana. On April 29, 1987, he was married in West Palm Beach, Florida to Theresa Goin Brown, a native of Oakland, California. Mrs. Brown survives. For 27 years he was employed as a delivery driver for United Parcel Service. He was a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars of Richmond, Indiana, the American Legion of Cambridge City, Indiana and the Horseman’s Benevolence & Protective Association. For more than 30 years he trained thoroughbred race horses and was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Fan. During his leisure, he enjoyed attending his granddaughter’s gymnastic events, his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family . Besides his wife, Theresa Brown, he is survived by seven children: Teresa Pipenger and husband, Tom and Ginger Martin and husband, Ed, all of Centerville, Indiana, Tina Hall and husband, Tim, of Richmond, Brad Kiser of New Castle, Kimberly Hicks of Greenwood, Stephanie McKinley and husband, Jerry, of Cambridge City and Cameron Ritchie and wife, Victoria, of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Roy James Brown and wife, Diane, of Harrison, Ohio, Tom Brown and wife, Pam, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Charlie Brown of Lexington, Kentucky; three sisters: Jewel Mendenhall and husband, Jeff, of Oklahoma, Vivian Armantrout of Muncie and Peggy Hicks of London, Kentucky; his father-in-law, Charles Meredith of Selma, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by a son: Bobby Brown; two brothers: Eddie Brown and Jack Brown; and a grandson: Kyle Kiser; and his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, January 22, 2010 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, with Reverend Eldon Denney and Reverend Jeff Mendenhall, officiating. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery in Milton with military rites provided by the Fayette County Veteran's Council Honor Guard. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4-8 PM on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the New Vocations, a racehorse adoption program.
