Harrison Collins, 79, of Connersville, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his residence.
He had been in failing health for the past several months.
He was born May 29, 1930 in Jackson County, KY, one of eight children of John and Rebecca Mae Bowens Collins.
On October 15, 1954, he was married in Brookville, IN to Phyllis Jean Morton. Mrs. Collins died August 28, 1988.
He had been employed by Philco-Ford, H.H. Robertson, and retired from Design & Manufacturing with 38 years of service.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards and checkers, playing his banjo, riding his golf cart, spending time with his best friends, his dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include six children: David Collins and companion, Carleene, of Connersville, Sandra Rose and husband, Robert, of Connersville, Steven L. Collins and wife, Debbie, of Michigan, Pamela Meadows and husband, John, of Connersville, Patricia Franklin and husband, Phillip, of Ohio, and William J. Collins and wife, Cherish, of Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Collins and wife, Shirley, and Carson Collins and wife, Bulah, all of Greensburg, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Phyllis Jean Collins, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Harry Collins, a great granddaughter, Audrey Davea Taylor, two sisters, Janice Morrow and Faye Pence, and three brothers, Joseph Earl Collins, Ernie Collins and Jerry Collins.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Darrell Bertrum, Pastor of the Cambridge City Church of the Nazarene at 3 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Cupps Chapel Cemetery in Franklin County.
