Dale Elbert Goetz, 91, of Connersville, passed away Sunday evening, January 31, 2010 at his home.
He was born January 7, 1919 in Connersville, one of two sons of Henry and Lillian Voorhies Goetz and had attended Connersville Schools.
He had been employed as a deliveryman for Daum’s Dairy and had also worked at Ready Tool & Die before enlisting with the U. S. Navy with the 135 Battalion of Sea Bees in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Connersville and worked at Roots Connersville Blower Company for 37 years, retiring December 31, 1983.
He was a member of the East Side United Methodist Church and played in the church orchestra.
He ran and was elected to Jackson Township Advisory Board in 1966.
In his leisure, he enjoyed woodworking, especially making car trucks and buses, loved yard work, growing tomatoes, enjoyed animals and was an accomplished do it yourselfer.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen Robbins Goetz, to whom he was married April 14, 1946 at the East side United Methodist Church; a son, Michael Dale Goetz of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; a daughter, Rebecca Ann Cummins of Connersville; four grandchildren: Leah Goetz, John Goetz, Andrew Cummins and Katie Reisinger; three great-grandchildren: Garrin Goetz, Weston Goetz and Casey Cummins; a brother, Wayne Goetz of Connersville; and a niece, Theresa Cochran of Connersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Joan Goetz.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Eugene Million at 2 PM Friday, February 5, 2010 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home where friends may call from 1 PM until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
