Anna Ratz, 90, of Connersville, passed away Monday afternoon, February 1, 2010 at Fayette Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday.
She was born December 20, 1919 in Brookville, Indiana, one of eight children of Edward and Elizabeth Meyer Burkhart. Anna lived in Brookville all through her childhood and attended the Saint Michael Catholic Schools and Brookville High School.
Formerly employed at American Kitchens in Connersville in the Key Punch Department.
On October 18, 1947, she was married in Brookville to Carl J. Ratz of Connersville. Following her marriage, she became a loving and devoted homemaker. They lived in Brookville for a short time and later moved to Connersville. Mr. Ratz died on November 25, 1983.
A faithful and longstanding member of the Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, she also was a member of the Saint Anne’s Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure she loved caring for and spending time with her pet dog “Maggy”.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Collins and husband, Gordon, of Anderson, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, Carl J. Ratz, she is preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Steele, Margaret Collier, Helen Young and Ruth Burkhart; and three brothers: Charles Burkhart, Robert Burkhart and Richard Burkhart.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, February 5, 2010 in Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, with Father Stanley J. Herber officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 9 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Gabriel Church Endowment Fund, 232 West 9th Street, Connersville, IN 47331.
