Sean Michael O’Rourke
Sean Michael O’ Rourke, 25, of Connersville, died at 1:36 AM at his residence on Saturday morning evening, February 6, 2010, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the loving support of his family.
He was born April 7, 1984 in Lafayette, Indiana, the son of Timothy K. and Kay E. Pflum O’Rourke.
A lifelong resident of Connersville, he attended Saint Gabriel Catholic Schools and graduated with honors from the Connersville High School, Class of 2002. During high school, he played Varsity Football, Basketball and was a member of the Boys Track Team. Following his graduation, he attended Purdue University and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
While a student at Purdue, he met Keli Archer of Fortville, Indiana and they were married on October 10, 2009.
He was employed for a period of time as a draftsman at Lorenz-William Clinton in Richmond.
He was a member of the Saint Gabriel Catholic Church.
Sean was an avid fan of Purdue University Athletics, especially their football team, and also was a Indianapolis Colts and Drew Brees fan. During his leisure he enjoyed woodworking and was a disciplined weightlifter and enjoyed watching movies and listening to his favorite music.
Besides his wife, Keli O’Rourke, survivors include his father and mother, Timothy K, and Kellie O’Rourke of Connersville, a brother, Kyle O’Rourke of Indianapolis; a sister, Emily O’Rourke of Muncie, Indiana; his mother and father-in-law, Matthew and Donna Archer of McCordsville, Indiana; grandparents, June Pflum of Connersville, Catherine O’Rourke Gerbus of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bob and Joyce Riley of Nappanee, Indiana, Roberta Thompson of McCordsville, Indiana and Tom and Judy Hendrickson of Cicero, Indiana; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his mother, Kay Pflum O’Rourke, who died November 5, 1986; he is preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Bradley O’Rourke, who died March 7, 1983; grandfathers, John ‘Jack’ O’Rourke, who died February 4, 1982, Martin Pflum, who died April 21, 1988, Charlie Thompson who died September 5, 1969 and Joe Gerbus who died December 14, 2005.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Stanley J. Herber at 11 AM Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 4-8 PM on Monday.
