Obituary:
Marvin Barbee, 80 of Connersville passed away early Saturday morning, February 6, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 18, 1929 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, one of five sons of George and Anna Clavell Barbee and he came to Connersville in 1947. During the Korean War, he served with the U. S. Army Signal Corp. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Connersville where he was employed for National Metal Products and had worked in the Casket Manufacturing Industry until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement and until 2000 he did consulting work for the York Group. On August 13, 1955, he was married in Connersville to Molly McGraw of Connersville. Mrs. Barbee survives. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. an avid golfer, he enjoyed playing, watching and reading about golf. Also, he was a member of the Willowbrook County Club. survivors besides his wife of 54 years, Molly Barbee, include a granddaughter, Kristin J. Jablonski and husband J.D., two great-granddaughters, Sasha and Jacquelyn Jablonski; a son-in-law, Richard Reece; two brothers, Raymond Barbee and wife, Betty and Wlliam Barbee and wife, Beni; a nephew, Jack Clavell of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law Melane Rose and husband, Joe; a brother-in-law, Mason McGraw and wife, Susan. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Barbee Reece, who died April 7, 2008; a grandson, Jeffrey P. Younts Jr., who died March 16, 2003 and two brothers, Harry Barbee and Glen Barbee. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Galbraith officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at First United Methodist Church from 4 until 7 PM Tuesday and from 10 AM Wednesday until the time of the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Endowment at the Fayette County Foundation or to the Fayette Regional Health System Hospice.
