Obituary:
Judy Louise Caldwell Flanigan, 63, of Connersville, died Thursday evening, December 29, 2005 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on October 5, 1942 in Connersville, one of three children of Joseph & Freda Bilby Caldwell. She graduated from Fayette Central High School in 1960, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University in 1964, and her Master Degree from Ball State University in 1968. For many years, Judy was employed by the Fayette County School Corporation as an Art Teacher where she spent most of her career at Connersville Middle School. On August 22, 1981, she was married to William C. Flanigan Sr. She was an active member of the arts community and an enthusiastic member of the Whitewater Valley Arts Association of which she served as the current President. Because of her love for helping others, she was an eye, tissue and bone donor upon her passing. Judy is preceded in death by her husband: William C. ‘Bill’ Flanigan Sr., her parents, a brother: Joe Caldwell, and a niece: Thelma Caldwell. Survivors include a brother, David Caldwell and wife Betty of Connersville; a sister-in-law, Nancy Caldwell of Gainesville, Georgia; Bill’s children: Bill Flanigan Jr. and wife, Tanya and Brian Edward Flanigan and wife, Heather all of Connersville; Sheila Carr and husband, Howard of Osgood, IN six grandchildren, Gayle “Bender” Flanigan, Austin Flanigan, Samantha Flanigan and Bailey Flanigan all of Connersville, Crissy Gabbard and husband, Matt and Josie Carr, all of Osgood, IN; nephew: Joseph Michael Caldwell and wife, Rona of Minneapolis, MN, and their children, Rikki, Coleman and Savannah Caldwell; nephew: Jason Trane Caldwell of Connersville; nephew: Scott Caldwell and wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Victoria Caldwell, all of Indianapolis; niece: Heather Caldwell of Milton, IN; niece: Sarah Caldwell of Nebraska; and nephew: Sam Caldwell and wife, Courtney of South Carolina. . Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Community Bible Church of Milton, IN with Pastor Jim Matson officiating. Burial will be in Lick Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3 until 7 PM, on Monday, January 2, 2006 and on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Whitewater Valley Arts Association or the Fayette County Purdue Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
