Alva “Alvie” Leon Congleton, 79, of Connersville passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at Hickory Creek of Connersville.
The oldest of two sons of Rucker Willis and Ruth Ann Tedrow Congleton, Alva was born on March 13, 1940.
In 1982, Alva married the former Judy Kay Patterson in Oldenburg, Indiana. Mrs. Congleton passed away in December 2014.
An avid outdoorsman, Alva was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, camping, and watching western movies.
Survivors include four children, Tammy (Robert) Doty of Centerville, Indiana, Rodney (Leslie) Congleton, Bradley Congleton (Tammy Taylor), all of Connersville, Mindy (Daniel) Hurst of Richmond, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Hunter Doty, Ashley (Chris) Standeford, Fancee Congleton, Rowdy Congleton, Billy Townsend, Brittany (Josh) Mattingley, Chelsea Congleton (Jeff Mills), Collin Congleton, Blake Barnes, Noah Barnes, Tori Belt, Jaiden Dale; eighteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Roy (Mary) Congleton of Connersville; a niece, Angie (Darren) Stegnger of Connersville; several cousins; and his loving pet dog, Susie.
Besides his wife of 32 years, Judy Kay Congleton, Alva is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brett Ross Toles.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Terri Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
