Barbara Ann Burnette, 77, of Connersville passed away early Saturday morning, January 6, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Richmond, Indiana where she had been staying for the last seventeen months.
One of ten children of Charley and Mattie Nunn LeFevers, Barbara was born in Pineville, Kentucky on July 27, 1940.
Barbara is a graduate of Bell County High School in Pineville, Kentucky and attended Cumberland College.
On March 8, 1958, Barbara married Claude Burnette in Pineville, Kentucky and they came to Connersville in the early 1960’s. Mr. Burnette passed away on October 17, 2016.
Barbara worked for Fayette County School Corporation as a reading tutor for 30 years.
She was a longtime member of both Eastview Baptist Church in Connersville and Hueston Southern Baptist Church in Morning Sun, Ohio. Always faithful, she taught Sunday school for many years.
A most caring and loving mother and grandmother, Barbara was a kind, humble and gentle soul who faced every challenge and hardship with faith, grace, and strength given from God.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudette (Rick) Cornett of Richmond; son, Glen Edward Burnette of Connersville; grandchildren, Travis (Ashleigh) Cornett, Amber (Brent) Wilber, Zachary Cornett, all of Richmond, Mary Margaret (Cody) Blakely of Connersville; great-grandchildren, Kyleen Wilber, Jackson Wilber, Kennedy Blakely and one on the way; sisters, Margaret (Robert) Brock of East Liverpool, Ohio, Willie Hoskins of Pineville, Kentucky; sister-in-laws, Edith LeFevers of Pineville, Kentucky, Geneva Tipton of Connersville, Dorothy Burnette of Utica, Michigan; brother-in-law, Burchell Surgner of Colon, Michigan; many very special nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 58 years, Claude Burnette, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Frances LeFevers, Pauline Bennett, Bonnie Elliott, Mary Helen Elliott; brothers, Fred LeFevers, Sonny LeFevers, and Charles LeFevers.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Cornett and Reverend Richard Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018.
