David Gerald Williams, 77, lifelong Connersville resident, passed away Saturday evening, January 6, 2018, at Reid Health in Richmond following a short illness.
One of thirteen children of Roy L. and Orena Vaughn Williams, David was born on May 14, 1940, in Connersville.
Following his graduation in 1958 from Connersville High School, David served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, receiving his honorable discharge in 1962.
For over 35 years, David was employed in the Inventory Management Department at Fayette Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2006. He worked at Philco-Ford prior to his time at the hospital.
David was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing the lottery, going to the casino, playing games on the computer and attending the horse races at the Fayette County Free Fair. He also enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Connersville Spartans, Indiana University and Pacers.
Survivors include six siblings, Julia Williams of Connersville, Irvin (Harriet) Williams of Culver City, California, Beverly Hutchinson of Indianapolis, Vincent Williams of Indianapolis, Nancy Williams of Los Angeles, California, and Leah Morris of Sardis, Mississippi. David is blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Sherman Williams, Nolan D. Williams; four sisters, Cynthia Williams, Shirley Foster, Luana Harper, and Marguerite Thurman.
Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2017, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Jerome Weaver will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council will follow in Dale Cemetery.
