Edna Marie Lunsford Wadle, 92, entered her heavenly home on June 19, 2019, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Edna was the 6th of 10 children born to the late Delbert and Plina Templeton Lunsford, in Paint Lick, Kentucky on December 9, 1926.
Edna was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Winton Wadle on May 19, 1945, in Paris, Texas where Winton served in the military. Winton passed away on July 15, 2000, after 55 years of marriage. She is the mother of Diana Kay Walling, who passed away in September of 2008, Robert Wadle (Pat), Larry Wadle (Sylvia) and Melody Wadle. Edna taught her children to embrace the Lord and to love music.
She was immersed in the Pentecostal Holiness community that would be her lifelong support as a young woman. Edna along with her sister Della Sidell Marcum and her mother Plina started the Eastside Pentecostal Holiness Church on the Eastside of Connersville in 1947. She was an assistant Pastor, a Sunday School teacher, and a missionary. She was a great prayer warrior. The sick and afflicted often called on her and her sister Della to pray for them. She was generous with her earthly goods and always served others gladly.
After leaving high school, Edna worked at Hackman- Heeb and later P.N. Hirsch as well as being a mother and homemaker for most of her life, during WW2 Edna was a welder at the American Kitchens plant and worked at a furniture factory in Rushville. Edna loved flowers and always kept a beautiful yard. She loved to garden and would preserve the bounty by canning beans in an old washtub in her back yard.
She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
Edna is survived by 3 of her children and a foster daughter Rosalie Smith Harper whom she helped to raise and her grandchildren Tammy Browne (John Lucas), Wade Walling (Cynthia), Tracy Cain (Denny), Robert Walling (Nicki), Travis Wadle (Julie), Maria Jones (Zac), Trent Wadle (Jennifer), Jordan Wadle (Kate), Clint Brown (Megan) and foster granddaughter Robin Harper. She also leaves 21 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Loretta Blakenbeckler (Eldon) and a brother, James Lunsford (Kathy), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She joins in heaven her parents; husband; her daughter Diane; a granddaughter Ty-Lissa Wadle- Miller (Joel); and two great-grandchildren Dakota Trey Wadle and Vail Grubbs-Wadle. Also her brothers Milton, Herman, Leonard, Charles Eugene and Noel Lunsford and sisters Alpha Marcum and Della Sidell Marcum.
Edna loved to read the Bible, and her favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing the old songs like When is He Coming Again and Keep Your Eyes On Jesus.
