Wm. Fred Hunter, 67, of Connersville went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning November 20, 2018 at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1951 in Batesville, Indiana the only child of William R. and M. Jean Bowles Hunter and the family lived in Metamora until as a young child, they came to Connersville for residence. Fred was a 1970 graduate of Connersville High School.
On June 12, 1971, he was married in the Calvary Baptist Church to Angela Faith Elliott. Mrs. Hunter survives.
For over twenty-four years, he was employed at Design & Manufacturing and then became employed for ten years at Visteon. He was later employed for ten years as a Security Sergeant at the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun, IN until his retirement in 2014.
He was a devoted member of the Connersville Baptist Temple. Fred was beloved by the community for his beautiful tenor voice where he sang for many weddings, funerals and specials events. In his leisure, he enjoyed photography, interior decorating and gardening.
Survivors besides his wife of 47 years Angela Hunter include two children, Jeremy Hunter and wife, Betty of Union, KY and Audra Hunter of Connersville; two grandchildren, TJ Sinclair and Ellyssa Hunter; his mother, Jean Blakley, of Connersville; his brothers, Marvin Hunter, of Connersville, Melvin Hunter and Keith Hunter, both of Nashville, TN; a sister, Wanda Day, of Memphis, TN; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bertha Elliott, of Connersville; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Beckner and husband, Tom and Donella Elliott; and a brother-in-law, Dan Elliott and wife, Karen.
He is preceded in death by his father, William R. Hunter; a stepfather, Walter A. Blakley; his grandparents, Frank and Viola Bowles and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Connersville Baptist Temple with Pastor Joe Ferriera officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, IN. Friends may call at the church from 11 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
