James Duane Cummins 86, of Connersville, passed away Thursday morning, August 23, 2018, at his residence.

One of three children of Millard Leroy and Avis Lucas Cummins, James was born June 12, 1932, in Rush County, Indiana.  James served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On December 29, 1951, James married the former Betty J. Brewer in McKee, Kentucky and they made Fayette County their home.   For over twenty-five years, James was employed at Philco-Ford and at Kanorr’s Radiator Shop.  James also farmed in the Bentonville area for twenty-five years until retiring in 2000.  Upon retirement, James and Betty moved to Connersville for residence.  Mrs. Cummins passed away January 10, 2003.

James was formerly a member of Fairview Christian Church and a current member of Community Bible Church of Milton; also, he was a member of American Legion Post #1 and Amvets, Post #11.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed being a member of the local C.B. Radio Club, going fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include four children, Ronald Cummins and wife Janeil, Cathy Steinard and husband Donald, Debra  Geis, all of Connersville, and Larry Cummins and wife Kathy of Richmond; grandchildren, Joseph Steinard and wife Christy, Shannon Heis and husband Michael, Anna Davis and husband James, Jennifer, Steele and husband Dusty, Gabriel Geis, all of Connersville, Bradley Cummins and wife Shelly of West Alexandria, Ohio, and Stephanie Cummins of Richmond; step-grandchildren, Brian St. Louis and wife Jessica of Austin, Texas, Kevin Lingg and wife Marianne of Indianapolis, and Ashley Dyer of Connersville; great-grandchildren, Brittany Lephew and husband Christopher, Joseph Steinard, Jr., Matthew Steinard, Abby Cruse, Zachary Heis, Elizabeth Heis, Rylan Davis, Beau Davis, Dominic Steele, Marissa Steele, William Luke Steele, Elisha Steele, all of Connersville, Mckaelyn Cummins, Presley Cummins, Abel James Cummins, all of West Alexandria, Ohio; Step-great-grandchildren, Sam St. Louis, Charlie St. Louis of Austin, Texas, Alexa Lingg of Westfiled, Indiana , Bryce Lingg of Panama City, Florida, Kaiden Lakes, Spencer Pollitt, Pierce Pollitt, Madison Bishop, Lindsey Bishop, Jordan Davis, all of Connersville; great-great-grandchildren, Aria Steele and Aurora Meredith-Steele of Connersville; step-great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Lephew of Connersville.   

Besides his wife of 51 years, Betty Cummins, James is preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Keith Geis, who passed away on February 15, 2018; a brother, Robert Cummins; and an infant sister, Avis Cummins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Matson officiating.  Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council will follow in Dale Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday, August 26, 2018, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
