James R. “Jimmy” Bennington, 70, of Connersville passed away Monday morning, August 13, 2018, at Golden Living Center-Golden Rule, Richmond.
One of ten children of Roland and Hazel Cordary Bennington, Jimmy was born on February 10, 1948, in Connersville. For several years, he was employed at McQuay-Norris, of Connersville.
James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and saw combat duty during the Vietnam era. Following his honorable discharge in July 1966, Jimmy was drafted with the United States Army, serving his country in Germany and Korea. Jimmy returned to Connersville following his military service.
Jimmy loved animals, especially horses; and in his leisure time enjoyed traveling, and spending time talking to people.
Survivors include three children, Roland Bennington of Amarin, California, James (Shelly) Bennington of Connersville, and Norman Bennington of Laurel; six grandchildren; three siblings, Marilyn Russel, Charles (Sue) McDaniel, all of Connersville, and Wanda Ayer of Columbia, South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by an infant son, Brian Kelly Bennington, six siblings, Norman McDaniel, Gilbert McDaniel, Nelson McDaniel, Donald Bennington, Marcella Dawson, and Martha Russell, and a niece, Carla Dawn McDaniel
Family and friends may call from 10:00 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Danny Wayne Russell will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery.
