Jimmie W. “Jim” Alcorn, 84, of Connersville passed away early Tuesday morning, July 30, 2019, at Majestic Care of Connersville where he had been a resident since April.
One of eleven children of Hume and Maude Wells Alcorn, Jim was born in Irvine, Kentucky on May 22, 1935, and came to Connersville for residence in 1950.
Jim was married to the former Sharon Jelyne Wicker. Mrs. Alcorn passed away on October 1988.
Jim was employed in forestry as a logger and sawmill operator for many years, and at Philco-Ford for two years.
Jim was a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church of Liberty, Indiana and in his leisure time enjoyed tinkering with small engines, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Jimmie H. (Vinita) Alcorn of Liberty, Frances Alcorn of Bakersfield, California, and Michael (Sarah) Alcorn of Connersville; nine grandchildren, Jimmie H., Jr. (Angie) Alcorn, Wally (Emily) Alcorn, Ryan Buttery, Josh (Jamie) Alcorn, Jeremy (Sara) Alcorn, Alyson (Ryan) Plough, Jarvis Hamill, Tracy (Shelby) Garcia, Waylon Alcorn; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Linda) Alcorn of Connersville and Ray Alcorn of Marine City, Michigan; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his former wife, Sharon Alcorn, Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jaletta Alcorn who passed away in 1974; five sisters; and three brothers.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Laurel North Cemetery.
