One of three children of Arthur Joseph and Elizabeth Rose Easton Mazzola, Linda was born in Bloomington, Indiana on October 21, 1939.
At the age of two years old, she moved with her family briefly to Sullivan, Indiana, then soon after settled in Connersville. She attended Saint Gabriel Catholic Elementary School and Connersville High School, graduating with the class of 1957. On September 4, 1965, Linda married Raymond Struewing in Saint Gabriel Catholic Church. Mr. Struewing survives.
Linda continued to teach elementary school a brief while longer until she and Raymond began their family. During her lifetime, she was very proud of her role as a teacher. However, those who knew her best understood that Linda regarded her most important role in life was to be a mother to her seven children. While never officially returning to teaching, she dedicated her time to occasionally substitute teach at Saint Gabriel School when her family grew older, as well as spending countless hours in the evenings tutoring young children from her home.
Linda was a devoted and active member of Saint Gabriel Catholic Parish. She was a faithful member of Saint Rita’s Circle of the Daughters’ of Isabella – serving for many years as the musician, as well as a member of the Saint Ann’s Altar Society. Besides her years spent as an elementary school teacher, Linda additionally served Saint Gabriel, for a brief time, on the parish pastoral council.
Linda was extremely proud of her dedicated service as a volunteer counselor for the Hope Pregnancy Center – diligently volunteering from the Center’s founding. Additionally, she was involved in making rosaries to be sent to Catholic missions. She faithfully volunteered with both of these ministries for many years, until her health no longer permitted her to serve.
Besides her husband of 52 years, Linda is survived by their seven children, Ronald Wayne (Karen) Struewing, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, David Michael Struewing, of Maybee, Michigan, Monica Lynn Struewing, of Connersville, Claudia Marie Alvis, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Denise Elizabeth Struewing, Kevin Andrew (Michelle) Struewing, and Stephen Paul (Chelsea) Struewing, all of Connersville; thirteen grandchildren; one step-grandchild; a sister, Margaret Louise Vonderheide, of Gallatin, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
