Myrna Joy Purcell, 82, of Connersville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at the home of her daughter where she had been residing due to health issues.
One of two children of William G. “Boogie” and Lucille Reid Wingate, Myrna was born in Connersville on April 10, 1937.
Myrna graduated with the class of 1955 from Connersville High School.
On December 23, 1954, Myrna married Daniel Phillip Purcell in Connersville. Mr. Purcell passed away on July 2, 2017.
Myrna was a co-founder of Purcell’s Restaurant and Purcell’s Industrial Catering. In 1970, she was honored to serve Dolly Parton and the Wagoneers at the restaurant.
Survivors include three children, Leah (Robert) Kolacki of Muncie, Indiana, Stephanie L. Purcell, and James Wade Purcell, both of Connersville; three grandchildren, Holly D. Bowen, David L. Bowen, Wesley Grant; a great-granddaughter, Zoie Bowen; and her beloved pet Chihuahua, Pee-Wee.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, William “Bill” Wingate, Jr.
In honor of Myrna’s wishes, no services will be held. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
