Nidrah (Hardin) SmithSeptember 1, 1941 ~ July 4, 2017 (age 75)
Nidrah Marie Smith, 75, took ill suddenly on July 3, 2017, and was taken by ambulance to Reid Hospital where she was admitted to ICU. She had been in fair health up until this point. She lost the fight early Tuesday evening, July 4, 2017.
She was born on September 1, 1941, in Charleston, Indiana, and later moved to Connersville. She resided for a time in Panama City, Florida and then later moved to San Diego, California, finally moving to Richmond.
Nidrah obtained her GED in 1984 and was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist of Richmond. She was an active member of her community, and always willing to give a helping hand. Nidrah had a profound love for animals and always took in strays!
Survivors include two children, Mary (Michael) Thomas of Connersville and John (Melissa) Self of Connersville; three grandchildren, Donald (Rebecca) Sherwood of Muncie, Indiana, Delores Marie Pebworth and Jessica (Jesse) Nottingham, all of Connersville; six step-grandchildren, Michael (Stacy) Gooding, Shaun Thomas, all of Connersville, Michael Edwards-Thomas of Terre Haute, Indiana, Geraldine Randolph of Richmond, Craig Thomas of Glenwood, Indiana and Katie Beagle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; thirty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances (Ed) Rice of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lois Palmer of California; several nieces and nephews.
Nidrah was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Margaret Wilder Hardin; a brother, William Hardin; and three husbands, Ervin W. Self, Jr., Alfred Raposa, and Nicholas Smith.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Joseph Daniels will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, Rushville.
