Norman Duffy, 85, of Connersville, passed away Saturday morning, January 6, 2018, at his residence.
One of ten children of Joseph and Pauline Mahatcke Duffy, Norman was born on February 19, 1932, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati with the class of 1950 and attended Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati, graduating with an associate’s degree in Transportation.
Norman served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean conflict and reenlisted to serve in Italy for two years. On March 23, 1955, he married the former Mary Brames at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cincinnati. Mrs. Duffy survives.
He was employed at Philco-Ford in Cincinnati and Connersville for many years before taking on the role of Transportation and Traffic Manager at D & M in Connersville. Following his retirement, Norman became the delivery supervisor for Grandview Pharmacy.
Norman was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, American Legion Post #1, the Democrat Mens’ Club, the Fayette County Library Committee, and a 51 year member and honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #861. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and baseball.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Mary Duffy, survivors include four children, Judy Jobe and her husband, Jacky of Auburn, Indiana, John Duffy and his wife, Kim Fields of Connersville, Tom Duffy of Juneau, Alaska, and Pete Duffy of Mundelein, Illinois; five grandchildren, Sarah Jobe McGregor and her husband, Matt, Jeffrey Jobe and his fiancé, Jessica Hons, Katie Swininger and her husband, Ryan, Elizabeth Sadler and her husband, Adam, and Joe Duffy; great-grandchildren, Alex and Keagan Jobe, Luke, Isabelle and Riley Swininger, Jett and Harper Sadler, Emily, Julia & Molly McGregor; and a sister, Mary Katherine Gosney of Covington, Kentucky.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Stanley, Paul, & Robert Duffy; sisters, Marjorie Kerkhoff, Dorothy Tiemeyer, Jeanne Beischel, and Mary Ellen Duffy.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Reverend Dustin Boehm will officiate. Military honors provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council will take place at the church immediately following the service. Friends may call from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.
