Patricia Kehl “Patsy” Miller, 91, of Connersville, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018.
She was born May 13, 1926 in Connersville, one of six children of Howard and Helen Reardon Kehl. A graduate of St. Gabriel School, she was a 1944 graduate of Connersville High School.
For over 40 years, she had been employed at Stant Manufacturing as Executive Secretary to several company presidents.
On May 7, 1976, she was married at St. Gabriel Church to John H. Miller of Connersville. Mr. Miller passed away October 25, 1999. She and her husband, John, owned and operated Miller Funeral Home for many years.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Church, St. Rita Circle, Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann Altar Society, the Bereavement Committee and K of C Auxiliary. Patsy was a member of the Board of Directors of John Connor Players and her other memberships include the American Legion Auxiliary, Inter-Culture Club, Coterie and Questers.
Patsy loved Tri Kappa and was initiated into the Connersville Alpha Xi Chapter in 1944. She served as Council President from 1977 until 1979. Alpha Xi recognized her many years of dedicated service and presented her with their “Tri Kappa of the Year” award in 1970 and made her an Honorary Member in 1979.
Patsy and John were active members of Kiwanis and supporters of the Kiwanis Foundation. John was a Past Governor of the Indiana District of Kiwanis International. In their honor, the Connersville Kiwanis established a scholarship in John’s memory.
In 2001, she was recognized by the Connersville/Fayette County Chamber of Commerce as their Citizen of the Year.
Other examples of her support for her community included contributions to the Connersville Parks and Recreation Department, Fayette Memorial Hospital, the Endowment Fund for St. Gabriel School and the Hope Center.
Patsy’s most outstanding and enduring gift to her community came in 2002 with the dedication of the John H. Miller Community Center.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Jane Henry; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kehl, widow of William, also left to cherish her memory are a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, and her little dog, Daisy.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, David, William “Bill”, Ronald and Jimmy Kehl.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Dustin Boehm at 11 AM Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in St. Gabriel Church and burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 PM on Monday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM.
