Richard “Dick” Eugene Adams, 76, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, January 27, 2018, at Osceola Regional Medical Center, Kissimmee, Florida after suffering a massive stroke earlier in the week.
He was born on December 24, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, the eldest of two sons of Harold and Maxine Marie Plyley Adams. Dick graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1960 where he was on the golf and swim teams.
Dick served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War. For 22 years, he was employed at Ford Electronics of Connersville during which time he earned his degree in engineering from Purdue University. Dick retired in 1993 as Tool and Gauge Supervisor. He also owned and operated A & C Quality Products for a number of years.
On May 23, 1986, Dick married the former Suzanne “Sue” Zimmerman of Connersville in First Baptist Church. Following their retirement, they enjoyed being snowbirds, spending winters in Winter Haven, Florida. Mrs. Adams survives.
Dick was a member of First Baptist Church of Connersville and in his leisure time enjoyed playing in golf leagues, mixed couple bowling leagues, and playing bridge.
Besides his wife of 32, years, Sue Adams, Dick is survived by a son, Richard Corey (Courtney) Adams of Indianapolis; three daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Brothers of Connersville, Melody (Gregg) Steele of Connersville, and Pamela (Bruce) Foreman of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Amanda Combs, Bryan Combs, Brennen (Jessica) Frank, Joshua Frank, Steven (Shyla) Snowden, Bobby Foreman, Samantha Foreman; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Snowden, Audreyanna Snowden, Breanna Frank, Lucas Frank, Ruger Frank; a brother, Tom Adams of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Rolland Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Francis Zimmerman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Robert Foreman.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 1201 N Grand Avenue, Connersville, Indiana. Reverend Mal Gibson will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home and at the church on Friday from 10:00 until the start of service.
